Laura Bowman developed an extreme admiration for natural beauty at an early age, inspired by her vast surroundings in the midwest. Studying art in New York, and later in Italy, Ms. Bowman further developed an appreciation for the magnificence of nature and its connection with man. This inter-relationship is a recurring theme expressed in Ms. Bowman's work.
With particular attention focusing on the contrasting aspects of light and dark and its impression on her subjects, Ms. Bowman's artwork blends texture and multi-layered compositions with monochromatic hues. The result is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also emotional and thought provoking. Ultimately, Laura Bowman's paintings portray the sensual relationship between nature and man often involving the spiritual co-existence, perpetual struggle and unbridled power of both.
