When comparing painting to poetry and music, the initial response tends to be external. Often the internal meaning is revealed only after time, in which the content becomes multidimensional. Frequently in poetry and music, layers of meaning are essential, as is the reader or listener's individual narration or response. I approach painting, as would a poet or musician; as a many-layered combination that causes an emotional response. In my work I think about visual language and it's abstraction and apply it visually.

I've made art my ritual, my life. While working I discover meaning and truth, a personal exploration of myself, my surroundings, and the interaction between the internal and external, the rational and the emotional.
