Michael Kalish has long been drawn to the fundamental principals that America was founded on - ideals of freedom, equality and a better life. It is these beliefs and this vision of America that inspires Kalish's work. Once a serious athlete, Kalish began his self-taught career in art after an injury ended his plans for baseball. Kalish's work spans a broad sampling of American culture, including a pop icon collection (The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Charlie Chaplin, Jim Morrison and David Letterman to name a few) as well as expanding his American anthology with The Statue of Liberty, Mt. Rushmore, The Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. and of course, The Baseball Series. Kalish's pieces have been showcased in galleries and private collections worldwide and he has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, People, US Weekly, American Style magazine, Art Business News, The London Times He has also made appearances on Access Hollywood, Fox News and Good Day New York.

Kalish's largest installation to date, The American Presidents, was displayed in the windows of Barneys, New York for the 2000 presidential election. His recent installation at Turner Field in Atlanta, features life size baseball figures permanently gracing the stadium walls. Appropriately, Kalish's latest body of work features classic cars; the perfect subject for his chosen medium of license plates which are a symbol of American life and the fingerprint of the beloved automobile.
